How did we get here?

Discovery 5 House is Avalon Master Builder's fifth applied research house, third net-zero house, and one of many LEED Canada for Homes registered homes. The Discovery series tests and demonstrates the latest in resource efficient technologies and construction techniques. Many of the products and techniques tested are now part of Avalon's standard home building specifications.

We've come a long way from our Discovery 1 house in 2005 built under the newly formed Built Green™ guidelines. Since then, measureable improvements over a standard building code house have been made to Avalon's building program, as each house Discovery house represents a tangible step closer to Avalon's vision of building 100% of our homes as net-zero at no additional cost to the home owner.
